This is a four minute trailer. It’s fantastic, but it pretty much shows the whole movie. If you don’t want to be spoiled you might want to wait for more reasonable theatrical trailer which will probably come out very soon.
Sci-fi is a weird thing for me. Technically it should be my favorite, but in all honesty, I hate more sci-fi than I like. This movie is straight-up conceptual sci-fi. It’s a dystopia set up around a single impossible idea. The problem with these movies is that it’s either too simple and it’s boring or it’s too complicated and you have to suspend your disbelief for two hours. This movie looks like it walks that fine line.
I think it’s a good sign that people are complaining about Justin Timberlake starring in this movie. If that’s what they think is wrong with this movie, then we’re pretty safe. Justin Timberlake has risen way too fast up the acting ladder. Probably he isn’t the best actor, but if I had to choose between him and most other Hollywood leading men, I’d choose him. The rest of the cast is also quite good, mostly they’re outrageously perfect looking.
By the way, this is the start of the Comic-Con stuff. We’re very lucky that we get to see any of these trailers. Last year it was torture. Reading trailer descriptions is the worst.
