This teaser really misrepresents this movie, or at least the comic-book.  I’m not saying this is a bad teaser, but there’s no doubt that the movie will be significantly more gory and hard-core.

But on to the story.  This is based on a very, very new comic book series about a teenage kid who is bored and depressed (what a unique teenager) so he decides that he should become a superhero.  Things don’t go well, he get’s destroyed.  This comic doesn’t hold back, it may at times look like a comedy, but when people are getting beat-up or killed it doesn’t edit anything.  I hear that the movie does the same thing, and I hope that’s true.  But until we get a red-band trailer we’ll just have to hope.

Oh Tina Fey, how I love her character.  Likely she’s going to receive even more backlash for playing that same character again, but that’s her shtick.  I’m really looking forward to this movie.  It’ll be like Thursday night on NBC, except I’ll be paying money.  Honestly though, this movie does look very funny.  These two are hilarious and I look forward to watching them play off each other.  It looks like they have no chemistry, but I think that’s going to make everything a lot more fun.

And look at the rest of the cast.  (BTW, I’ve put the actors and actresses that I like in the tags section, that way I don’t have to mention them every time.)

First off, this is a trailer for a TV show.  Now that more than half of you have left the site we can begin discussing this show.

I’m extremely excited about this show.  It is the prequel TV series for Battlestar Galactica.  Supposedly it’s going to be a more intimate drama as opposed to BSG’s epic drama.  The pilot/mini-series has already aired and been released.  It was quite good, an unnecessary amount of nudity, but it’s forgivable.  The show is about the creation of the Cylons (well, some of them) and the ancestors of some of the characters from the main series.  Battlestar Galactica was an outrageously good TV show, I had lost some appreciation for it but after a friend of mine rewatched it I was reminded of how epic it was.  This show won’t be quite as great, but it’ll still be good.  And there are a few members of the cast that I love.  Magda Apanowicz was great in Kyle XY (honestly, she was the only person on that show that wasn’t over-acting).  Also Polly Walker is in the show (hilariously I always get her mixed up with Molly Parker).  Polly was great in Rome.  This role doesn’t seem quite as powerful as her role in Rome, but I’m sure she’ll make things complicated.

Before you watch the trailer you should be warned that it has a truly awful voice over, and it contains spoilers about the mini-series.

This is another attempt by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer to create another Pirates of the Caribean type franchise.  This is probably their best bet.  This one is based on the series of games.  The games have always been very popular and for good reason.  Ubisoft has never let the game get old.  They keep on refreshing the series.  The newest game was totally different, light on story, but heavy on style.  This movie seems to have borrowed the style from the newest game and the story from the best game.  The trailer explains the story, it seems quite different from the game, but that’s not a bad thing (there are more humans in the movie).

The cast seems quite good.  I was very concerned when I heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to play the prince.  But once they started releasing pictures of him my worries were gone.  I was very excited when I heard that Gemma Arterton was playing the other lead.  I loved her in James Bond, even if she was only in for a few seconds.  Ben Kingsley will make an interesting villain, hopefully he doesn’t overdo it.

Toy Story was a big part of my childhood.  I was raised on Disney movies, and I was 7 when the movie originally came out, pretty much the perfect age for a movie like this.  Anywho, we’re on to the third movie and this one looks like it’ll make me cry more than the other two.  I’ve always been extremely nostalgic, so a movie about leaving toys behind is terribly depressing for me.  Also personification of inanimate objects is a hobby of mine (also a sign of insanity), so this movie is right up my alley.

I don’t usually post TV-Spots on this blog, there are usually just too many, and if I start posting them I might never stop.  Plus they’re usually just shortened versions of the trailer.  Buuut, Where the Wild Things is going to be my favorite movie this year so I’ll make an exception.  Also there have been an extraordinary amount of TV-Spots for this movie.

And just for the fun of it I’m going to post the rest of the Where the Wild Things Posters.  Apparently a lot of people have used my blog to get posters, that’s fine with me (probably it isn’t fine with the other sites where I get the posters from.)

September has been a very, very dull month for trailers.  So to make sure no one forgets that I’m here I’m going to repost some of my favorite trailers from the Summer.

I’m quite surprised that Wes Anderson released another trailer for this movie, that’s slightly unusual, it’s not like the first trailer was a teaser.  But that’s beside the point.

I’d say this trailer is targetted more at adults rather than kids.  Whereas the last trailer made the movie look kinda like a kids show, this one makes more complicated jokes and concentrates on the critical acclaim this movie has attracted.  The “cussing” joke was an interesting joke for a trailer, not what I would expect.  And that Pixar dig was very interesting.  I love Pixar to a ridiculous degree, therefore I don’t really know what they were trying to accomplish with that quote.  Were they implying that this movie is better than Pixar in a mean-spirited kind of way?  Or were they complimenting Pixar and trying to attract that kind of fan-base?  Weird.

If you go watch this trailer you’ll see two featurettes about the movie on the Apple site.  They’re quite interesting.  One is about Roald Dahl and the other is about how Wes chose to film the movie.  He’s filming in a kind of method directing.  Obviously he put a lot of work into the stop motion part of the movie, but apparently he didn’t want to record the voices in a studio, so he made the actors (well most of the actors) act out the scenes in different environments and he recorded the voices there.  Interesting idea, hopefully it sounds good.

Agora’s looking like it’s going to be my second favorite movie of the year.  It’s a perfect storm of interesting things.  I am in love with all things Roman, Greek and Egyptian, naturally Alexandria is one of my favorite historical settings.  I love religious conflicts like the one in this film, and as a good Christian I naturally root for the Pagans.  The two stars are wonderful.   The Fountain is one of my favorite movies ever, and Rachel Weisz is a big part of the reason why I loved the movie.  She’s just so earnest and lovable.  Max Minghella looks like he’s going to be a good actor too.  Likely he’s always going to be referred to as his fathers son, but I think he’s going to be in some great movies in the future.

I still need to read this book, so I can’t really say much about the “trueness” of this movie.  I hear that the C.I.A. program was real, and the book about the failed experiments is hilarious but the director chose to pretend that the experiments were successful in order to make a funnier film.  After I actually read the book I’ll be more equipped to say what’s going on there.

The premise looks suitibly outrageous, but besides that this movie looks great.  Although the director is obviously stepping on some Soderberg and Coen toes, he seems to be doing it delicately.  If he was completely ripping off their style then I doubt he’d be able to get this cast.  Just look at this cast, it’s the largest collection of dead-pan performers.  Kevin Spacey could probably keep me laughing throughout this whole movie.
