This movie is looking better and better.  I’m still not excited about the American setting, but I’ll live with it.  The cast is looking great.  Uma Thurman looks pretty outrageous.  I don’t look forward to Pierce Brosnan’s transformation.  Rosario Dawson is looking great, I wish she got better roles, it seems like she doesn’t get in enough good movies.  The kids look OK, I can imagine that the girl is going to reach a Hermione level of annoying very quickly.

Another trailer, more story.  I don’t really have anything more to say about this one.  The cast is glorious and the sets are amazing.  I’m not one for horror movies or thrillers, but this looks very good.

This is an “international trailer”,  in other words the subtitles are in another language, in this case french.

When I was quite young I rented the old Clash of the Titans movie (it released sometime close to Star Wars).  I expected it to be a classic campy fantasy movie.  It was pretty awful.  I’m all for old-fashion special effects, but come on.  It wasn’t the classic it was made out to be.  This version looks better.  Granted this trailer is nothing more than a testosterone filled Hollywood version of a music video, but I’m sure the movie will be better.  It’s undoubtedly a big budget action movie, but it has some serious talent and shouldn’t be ignored as a 300 copycat (although that wouldn’t be the worst thing, 300 was a lot of fun).

And yes, I rolled my eyes too when the line “Titans Will Crash” came on the screen.

I am very unsure about this movie.  When I first watched the teaser I had a lot of hope.  It looked like a Harry Potter knock-off with Greek mythological characters instead of witches and wizards.  Sounds good, right?  Then I read the book.

Whew, the book is truly awful.  Granted it wasn’t written for adults, but technically neither was Harry Potter.  Honestly though, this book is terrible no matter how young you are.  I now have no intention of reading more of the books.

After I read the book I watched the teaser again and discovered that despite the terrible book the movie might still hold some promise.  Then they released this trailer.  Now I’m back on the ban wagon.  As long as the director and the screen-writers really change the story then this could be a good movie.  So this isn’t a full endorsement, I am not behind this movie, but I will say that it looks significantly better than the book.

This is another attempt by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer to create another Pirates of the Caribean type franchise.  This is probably their best bet.  This one is based on the series of games.  The games have always been very popular and for good reason.  Ubisoft has never let the game get old.  They keep on refreshing the series.  The newest game was totally different, light on story, but heavy on style.  This movie seems to have borrowed the style from the newest game and the story from the best game.  The trailer explains the story, it seems quite different from the game, but that’s not a bad thing (there are more humans in the movie).

The cast seems quite good.  I was very concerned when I heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to play the prince.  But once they started releasing pictures of him my worries were gone.  I was very excited when I heard that Gemma Arterton was playing the other lead.  I loved her in James Bond, even if she was only in for a few seconds.  Ben Kingsley will make an interesting villain, hopefully he doesn’t overdo it.

This trailer is far more exciting than the last one.  Obviously all the good things about the last one are still here, the awesome cast, the beautiful sets and the fact that the writers and the director didn’t sellout.  It would have been very easy to make a ridiculous Werewolf movie set in modern times with teenagers and maybe, if we’re lucky, Paris Hilton.  But fortunately the movie didn’t take that route.

Now let’s all hope that this movie doesn’t get delayed… again.

I don’t usually post TV-Spots on this blog, there are usually just too many, and if I start posting them I might never stop.  Plus they’re usually just shortened versions of the trailer.  Buuut, Where the Wild Things is going to be my favorite movie this year so I’ll make an exception.  Also there have been an extraordinary amount of TV-Spots for this movie.

And just for the fun of it I’m going to post the rest of the Where the Wild Things Posters.  Apparently a lot of people have used my blog to get posters, that’s fine with me (probably it isn’t fine with the other sites where I get the posters from.)

I would never have found this trailer if it weren’t for Twitch, my favorite indie movie blog.  They had a great interview with Tomm Moore the director of this film.  (It’s worth checking out Twitch just to see all their awesome banners.)

This is a ridiculously good looking cartoon from Ireland.  It’s distributed by Beuna Vista International, I don’t really know if that’s Disney or not, but that’s nothing but a stamp of approval and a budget so it hardly matters.  I can’t find a lot of information about the movie, there is a lot of ambiguity.  It’s sometimes called Brendan and the Secret of the Kell, and I have no idea when it’s coming to North America, or if it already did.

I shouldn’t actually say this because it’s sure to jinx it, but wouldn’t it be great if this movie was nominated for the animated Oscar.  It’s better than Monsters Vs. Aliens getting nominated.

Anywho, click the poster to watch the trailer.

This trailer isn’t terribly different than the last trailer, but I think it does a better job at selling the movie.  The CGI looks amazing.  Heath Ledger is still front and center, and I’m still worried that people will raise their expectations a little too high because of these trailers.  But I guess Terry Gilliam has to do something to get people to watch his movies.

Avatar is probably the most epic-est movie ever made.  James Cameron finally decided to capitalize on the outrageous success of Titanic and make the movie he’s always wanted to make.  This is that movie.  I honestly couldn’t care less about the story, what I care about is how it looks.  This looks to be the most beautiful movie ever made.  It has the most impressive effects work ever.  And it’s all in 3D.  I know 3D has been around forever, but only with a budget like this one will 3D be seen to it’s full effect.

[UPDATE: Empire posted a wonderful scene-by-scene analysis of the trailer.  Check it out here.]
